Delta-R and the Complutense University of Madrid sign an agreement to collaborate in the investigation of natural language and business rules.
19-05-2009

·Delta-R, a technology company, and NIL an investigation group, which belongs to the “Instituto de Tecnología del Conocimiento”, (ITC) in the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM), will undertake an investigation about the possible application of natural language techniques in BRMS platforms.

During the month of March, 2009, Delta-R and UCM signed an agreement to collaborate in the investigation of natural language and business rules.

Delta-R, a company specialising in BRMS (Business Rules Management Systems) technology, has developed a software platform with which it is possible to define and set up all types of rules and predictive models in a way that can take decisions in any form of organisation.

BRMS technology represents an evolution of BREs a.k.a “Business Rules Engines”, through which it is hoped to get closer to business rules management, which up until now was being undertaken from a technical areas point of view, by business specialists. In order to work it is necessary to put a series of graphic and intuitive tools, which Delta-R will add the natural language programs, at the disposal of the user.

The incorporation of this technology in a BRMS system, such as Delta-R’s, will allow users to define the company’s policy using their native language as the software interprets and executes the orders in an intelligent way as if a traditional program had been used.

The research in natural language programming holds great success in the past (for instance, the technology which gives support to Google’s search engine). Recently this technology has reached a maturity that allows using it in new practical situations. Since many years, the NIL research group has promoted the collaboration between the university and the private sector in order to aim this objective.

According to Pablo Gervás, the UCM´s Instituto de Tecnologías del Conocimiento´s manager: “This is an opportunity to demonstrate that the results obtained by the University´s research can give response to real necessities in the private sector”

The project, which will be undertaken in the next few months, which according to Jose Gabriel García, Delta-R CEO, represents “a step forward in the bringing together of business users and business rules management”.

Lubbus and Delta-R, two Spanish companies at the forefront of technology.
21-03-2009

· Lubbus, the first Spanish P2P Lending platform, uses the risk assessment system that was developed by Delta-R, to support their customers’ decisions.

On the 19th of March 2009 “Lubbus Internacional” gave a shock in becoming the first Spanish P2P Lending platform.

Peer-to-peer loans, a.k.a. P2P, have already been carried out for a few years in other countries, and have arrived to Spain in a moment where the crisis has forced loan entities to close their doors to many companies and people.

Using the P2P platform developed by Lubbus, it will be possible to offer or ask for money through the internet without having to go through a middle-man.

It is without doubt a new credit system in Spain which will only work well if there is a reliable risk assessment process. This way, Lubbus will be able to offer their users information, which will help them make a decision, using a system which will combine two risk assessment programs developed by Delta-R (people) and Axesor (companies) with up to date information of judicial records.

The risk assessment rules program and data access have been used through onRules, an advanced business rules control system developed by Delta-R, and also happens to be the only BRMS developed by a Spanish company.

On the other hand Lubbus also uses evaluation methods that are more socially based and therefore add that human touch to this new way of banking.

Delta-R signs a technological partnership deal with Polymita Technologies
18-08-2008

· Polymita Technologies, which specialises in software solutions for the management of business processes, contents, business portals and application integration (Polymita Business Suite), has added Delta-R to its network of technological partners, which specialises in the design of decision models and manufactures business rules management software.

Polymita Technologies will offer their Polymita BPM-Suite completely integrated with the advanced Business Rules (BRMS) engine developed by Delta-R, thus increasing the flexibility and power of the process automation and management tool, which already has its own rules engine (BRE).

Business rules technologies are considered an essential part of BPM systems, as they extend the flexibility and agility of BPM to process management. Using Polymita Business Suite, business rules may be defined, administered and reused from the configuration tool itself. It has a centralised repository of rules, which can be called up by any process at any time, with full access to data. Thanks to the total integration of the capabilities of both product suites, business users are offered several advanced mechanisms to define the business rules used in their business processes.

Polymita BPM-Suite also offers other key integrations, such as those carried out with Aris, Adonis and Process Modeler process modellers. Accordingly, the processes modelled using said tools can be imported and implemented in a matter of seconds.

The two companies will work hand-in-hand to improve and boost their clients’ business productivity. They use a complete system for the unified management of processes, contents and persons, which, along with the integration of systems and applications, offers record implementation time. This gives immediate return on the investment in technology. It is not only client companies that will benefit from the advantages of the Polymita product suite, but also integrator companies and consultancies, which can thus offer added value and, of course, the end users.

According to Erik Brieva, Founder of Polymita Technologies, “integration with the Delta-R BRMS widens the functions of the Polymita BPM-Suite and enriches our clients with their know-how and experience, particularly in the financial sector.

In the words of José Gabriel García, Managing Director of Delta-R: “The Polymita BPMS suite and the Delta-R BRMS together comprise a formidable platform that offers organisations great power as regards the definition and operation of processes and rules. This solution provides efficient cooperation between business and technical areas, to define processes, predictive models and business rules in a flexible and dynamic manner. Thus, continuous adaptation to market reality gives organisations higher productivity rates.”

Delta-R awarded ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certificates
20-06-2008

· Since it was first set up, Delta-R has had a clear commitment to quality, in order to implement processes for the continuous improvement of its products and services. Proof of this commitment is the project launched in January 2008 to adapt the company’s procedures to ISO 9001 standards.

The project was a success and Delta-R was awarded the ISO 9001 certificate by Bureau Veritas, along with the ISO 14001 certificate which testifies to the company’s good environmental practices.
In the words of José Gabriel García, CEO of Delta-R: “Quality and environmental certificates were one of our main objectives.  The adaptation project has allowed us to polish our processes, with the final aim of improving the products and services we offer our clients.”

Delta-R launches the first version of the BRMS onRules platform
15-03-2008

· After an intensive development period, Delta-R has launched the first version of its Business Rules (BRMS) platform: onRules.

BRMS systems optimise business rule management, ensuring the definition and implantation of rules which are effective, efficient and flexible enough to ensure adaptation to continuous changes in the environment and markets, allowing the organisation to gain the best possible advantage and react rapidly to possible threats.

In changing environments and markets, where the decision-making process is frequent and complex, BRMS contribute to developing competitive advantages, such as flexibility and adaptive capacity, fully justifying the return on investment (ROI).

onRules is a new generation´s BRMS which you can use to manage your business rules system in a flexible, dynamic manner. The application was functionally and structurally conceived to favour cooperation between business and IT departments. It provides entirely graphic, intuitive tools which make it easier to use at all phases of rule implementation (definition, tests, launch, execution and monitoring), regardless of your level of IT knowledge. Technical and business users can define rules of varying levels of complexity, create visual interrelationships (rule flow) and implement business rules in a way which is independent from, but also integrated into, the rest of the organisation’s applications and systems.

Delta-R presents the Modelliza project

07-09-2007

· Within the framework of the Modelizza project, Delta-R, a company located in Elda (Alicante) has developed innovative mathematical models with the aim of predicting the probability of a credit operation entering into default. The aim of the Modelizza project involves proving the effectiveness of neural networks, a technique encompassed under what is popularly known as Artificial Intelligence, and comparing these tools with others which are purely statistical and which are often used by banks.

The project was developed with the cooperation of the Miguel Hernandez University in Alicante and the Caja Mediterráneo Savings Bank, and is co-financed by Caja Navarra (Eurecan) and the Ministry for Science and Technology, which has included it on the Neotec initiative, created to finance new R+D enterprises.

The results of the project have been classified as extremely positive, as the theoretical studies had predicted, due to fact that the use of neural networks significantly improves on the efficacy of traditional models.

In the words of José Gabriel García, CEO of Delta-R: “The main conclusion of the studies is that neural networks offer significant advantages over traditional models. However, many organisations are still reluctant to switch to these networks as this type of technology is still highly novel in practice, even though the neural network theory actually dates back several decades. At Delta-R, we believe that the results of the Modelizza project ensure greater efficacy in predicting default, which is always extremely important for financial institutions, even more so in the current international context of a possible credit crisis caused by subprime transactions in the USA.”

Neural Networks are mathematical algorithms which emulate the behaviour of the human brain. Due to the particular structure of nodes (neurons) and internodal connections, these networks can extract knowledge from historical data. This process is known as the network learning process.

The use of this technology is not limited to banks, as explained again by Mr García: “Our main target sector is Banking and Insurance, but we are already beginning to study the use of Neural Networks in other sectors such as medicine, marketing or even publishing.”

Delta-R is classified as a Ministry for Science and Technology Neotec project

20-12-2006

·After a year’s planning, the Delta-R project has been classified as a Neotec project by the CDTI (Ministry for Science and Innovation). As a result, and over a one year period, the company will be able to dedicate a series of resources to carrying out an R+D project in developing predictive models used for credit risk analysis.

The aim is to build a new methodology which will help improve current predictability rates by creating hybrids from traditional models and artificial intelligence.
